Colorado Rapids goalkeeper William Yarbrough was selected to theĀ MLS Team of the Week ā Week 8Ā for his performance over the weekend in the Burgundy Boysā scoreless draw against Charlotte FC.
Yarbrough recorded five saves en route to his 20th career shutout with the Rapids, which ranks fifth all-time in club history and only three behind Tim Howardās career mark with the team.Ā
The two-time LigaMX champion made five saves against Charlotte FC on Saturday, including aĀ pair of consecutive savesĀ in the 49th minute, parrying away Jordy Alcivarās effort from the edge of the 18-yard box before denying Charlotte Designated Player Karol Swiderski ās volley on the rebound. With the match entering stoppage time, Yarbrough came up big once again,Ā holding his ground to stop a breakaway effortĀ Orrin McKinze Gaines II and secure a draw thatĀ set a new club record for most unbeaten games at homeĀ in the regular season.
The Rapids will look to extend their unbeaten run at home, which currentlyĀ ranks seventh all-time in league history, as they host Portland Timbers FC this Saturday night.
