News that Irish international Kevin Doyle had signed for the Rapids as a Designated Player broke at the end of March, but he did not make his MLS debut until May 23rd and the 1-0 home win over Vancouver Whitecaps, when he replaced Gabriel Torres after 63 minutes. His first start for his new club came four days later in the 1-0 defeat at Seattle Sounders FC, but he would have to wait until 4th July for his first goal for Colorado, which proved to be the winner in a 2-1 home victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Doyle scored a team-leading five goals in all, the first four of which were game-winners. Two of his five goals were also nominated for AT&T Goal of the Week. Doyle’s form for the Rapids did not go unnoticed, and he received regular call-ups from the Republic of Ireland as they qualified for the 2016 European Championship.
