COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – Rapids 2 goalkeeper Adam Beaudry has been named the MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star for Matchday 16, the league announced today. The 17-year-old goalkeeper made his professional debut for Rapids 2 on April 30 in the match against North Texas SC and has since gone on to make eight more appearances for the Rapids’ MLS NEXT Pro side.
"Adam is earning excellent experience,” said Erik Bushey, Rapids 2 Head Coach. “He continues to be intentional about learning and improving and is doing so while also gaining success in competition. Coaches Brandyn Bumpas and Chris Sharpe are doing amazing work with him."
Beaudry has been a mainstay of the Rapids 2 defense this season, starting in nine matches for the top Western Conference team. The Rapids Academy goalkeeper currently leads the team with three clean sheets, including two consecutive clean sheets from the club’s matches against LA Galaxy II and Austin FC II. Rapids 2 also sits in second in the league for goals allowed, having only conceded 16 goals in the 16 matches they have faced this season.
In addition to his time with Rapids 2, Beaudry spent time with the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team during the Concacaf U-17 Championship in February. During his time at the continental tournament, Beaudry helped the U.S. reach the final before they fell to Mexico in a 3-1 loss. He made three starts for the youth national team during the tournament, recording two clean sheets and three wins.
Most recently, Beaudry joined the U.S. U-17 team in April for training camp as the squad continued its preparation for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, scheduled to take place from November 10 to December 2 in a yet-to-be-determined host nation. He was one of eight players to return to the team from the U-17 World Cup qualifying roster.
