COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids 2 announced today the club has reached an agreement with Czech side MFK Vyskov to extend midfielder Daouda Amadou’s loan through December 31, 2023.
“Daouda has been an important contributor to the success of the team this year,” said Brian Crookham, Rapids 2 General Manager. “The extension not only allows for continuity in the roster as we approach a critical juncture in the season, but also allows us to work with him further as we evaluate his long-term future.”
Amadou joined Rapids 2 at the beginning of the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season and went on to record three assists across 15 appearances (10 starts) in his first year with the club. The Cameroonian’s loan was extended in the offseason and has logged one goal and one assist in 18 appearances (14 starts) this season, currently leading the team in tackles (29) and interceptions (23). Amadou also earned a call up to the Rapids first team on a short-term agreement for the team’s match against FC Cincinnati on May 27 at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park, alongside teammates Yosuke Hanya and Marlon Vargas.
Prior to joining the Rapids organization, the 20-year-old midfielder made four appearances for MFK Vyskov during the 2021 season. His career has seen him make four appearances for Cameroon in the 2020 UNIFFAC U-20 tournament and two appearances in their 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup matches versus Tajikistan and Spain. Amadou notably claimed the Man of the Match award in the final of the 2019 African Cup of Nations where he logged five appearances with Cameroon’s U-17 national team in their run to the title.
