COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids 2 have signed defender Steve Flores ahead of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season, the club announced today.
“We are extremely excited for Steve. He has been a part of the club since the early days of his youth career and has constantly risen to meet the challenges he has faced. This reward for his hard work is a proud moment for Steve and his family and I know our academy staff will be equally pleased,” said Brian Crookham, Rapids 2 General Manager.
Flores, 20, is a long-standing member of the Rapids organization having joined the academy as a U-12 player. The defender worked his way through the Rapids player pathway, making the jump from the academy to the club’s MLS NEXT Pro side ahead of the team’s inaugural season in the league in 2022. Flores made his professional debut in MLS NEXT Pro on April 10, 2022, in Rapids 2’s match versus North Texas SC. In his two seasons with the second team, Flores has added one assist and helped his team to three clean sheets in 36 appearances.
