COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids 2 announced today that the club has signed forward Facundo Núñez on a six-month loan from Uruguayan side Cerro Largo F.C.
“We are excited to add another dynamic attacking player to the group. Facundo’s creativity brings us a different look in the front four. We believe his experiences as a young player in Uruguay will help him adapt quickly to the demands in our league,” said Brian Crookham, Rapids 2 General Manager.
Núñez joins Colorado’s MLS NEXT Pro side after spending three seasons with Cerro Largo F.C. in the Primera División. The forward joined Cerro Largo in 2021 and made his professional debut at 15-years-old on April 14, 2021, in the team’s match against Peñarol in the Copa Sudamericana. His appearance in the match made him the youngest player in history to premiere in the tournament. Since joining the Uruguayan club, Núñez has contributed two assists in 26 appearances, including one appearance in the Copa AUF Uruguay.
The striker has impressed at the international level having spent time with the Uruguay U-17 Men’s National Team. Núñez made his international debut on July 12, 2022, and has since added one assist in his nine appearances for Uruguay.
