COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids 2 announced today that the club has signed midfielder Antony García on loan from Costa Rican side F.C. Moravia through the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season with a club option to buy in 2025, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.
“Antony can come from a variety of attacking positions to create goals and assists. He has great experience both at the international and first division levels in Honduras and it is our belief he can have an immediate impact in our system,” said Brian Crookham, Rapids 2 General Manager.
García joins Colorado’s MLS NEXT Pro side after being loaned out from F.C. Moravia to Honduran club F.C. Motagua for the 2022-23 Liga Nacional Apertura season. During his time with the first division side, he added two assists in six appearances. Prior to joining Motagua, García spent two seasons with Honduran side C.D.S Vida where he signed his first professional contract at the age of 16 when he joined the club in 2021. In his time with C.D.S Vida, García totaled three goals and two assists in 41 appearances.
The Honduran winger has impressed at the international level having debuted for both the Honduras U-23 and U-20 Men’s National Teams. García recorded his first cap with the national team on June 19, 2022, during the Concacaf U-20 Championship in a match against Antigua that saw the midfielder record an assist for his country. He went on to make five more appearances during the tournament before Honduras fell short to the U.S. in the semifinals. Most recently, García joined the Honduras U-23 team for the Pan American Games in Chile where he made four appearances and recorded his first-ever international goal in the team’s match against the U.S.
