Academy Update: Rapids U-14s and U-13s defeat FC Boulder  -

As the senior sides of the Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas were meeting in Frisco on Saturday, the respective Development Academy teams were facing each other at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.


The seven-game unbeaten stretch for the Rapids’ U-18/19s came to an end with a 3-1 loss to Dallas. The Rapids took the lead through Enoch Mushagalusa, only for Dallas to fight back and avenge the loss in Frisco back in November.


For the second game in a row, theU-16/17s lost 1-0 at home to a team from Texas. A slender reversal against Solar SC last month was followed by a narrow defeat to FC Dallas.


And the U-15s came off second best to Dallas, losing 2-1. Mario Ramirez was on target for the home side, who were beaten for the first time in 10 games. The last side to get the better of the U-15s were Dallas at the start of November.


Elsewhere, Banyon Lyon and Alan Salgado both netted hat-tricks in a comfortable win for the U-14s over FC Boulder. The U-13striumphed 3-1 against Boulder, with goals from Keith Chavarria, Sureel McCain, and Kevin Tlaxcalteco.


Both U-12 teams were triumphant. The A team overcame FC Boulder 8-1, courtesy of Ren Garfield, Devyn Mena, Andre Romo (all 2), Tadeo Razo, and Jesus Rodriguez. The B team won 4-1. Luis Garcia (2), Simeon Woldeyohannes, and Theo Scott were among the goals.


The U-12s, U-13s, and U-14s are at Pride Switchbacks this Saturday. The U-15s, U-16/17s, and U-18/19s return to action on April 21 with a trip to Real Colorado in Highlands Ranch.
