Academy Update: U-15s and U-14s top Real Colorado, senior teams held at draws -

Colorado Rapids’ Development Academy were in Highlands Ranch this past weekend to face Real Colorado, emerging with three wins, three ties, and a loss.

The U-18/19s were held 1-1, thereby bringing their two-game winning run to an end. Oliver Larraz gave the Rapids the lead with a goal on 25 minutes - his third of the season - before Real leveled with 17 minutes remaining through Samuel Hallam.

There was late drama in the match involving the U-16/17s. This contest also ended 1-1, with both goals coming in the latter stages. Jackson Vander Ven scored what Real hoped would be the winner on 82 minutes, only for the Rapids to snatch a point through Jacob Granados, with his response coming just two minutes later.

The Rapids’ U-15s made it four wins from four games, edging Real 2-1. Maclovio Swett set them on their way with a goal from the penalty spot five minutes before the interval. Daniel Williams equalized for the home side, with Anthony Miranda Sanchez sealing the deal in the last minute.

It is now six wins in a row for the U-14s, though they were made to battle for all three points on Saturday. Kevin Tlaxcalteco eventually found a way past the Real defense, scoring the game’s only goal just beyond the hour mark.

No such success for the U-13s, who were defeated 3-0. All three goals came in a 12-minute first half burst, as the Rapids dropped points for the first time this season.

There were mixed fortunes for the two U-12 teams. The first encounter ended in a 1-1 tie, with the Rapids goal coming from Taban Luna. The second game ended in a victory, inspired by a hat-trick from Martin Flores.
