Colorado Rapids’ senior Development Academy teams were back in action at the weekend, with games on Saturday and Sunday.
The U-18s/19s came back to defeat Sporting Kansas City 4-3 on Sunday, having been held 2-2 at Real Colorado the day before. Enoch Mushagalusa scored both in the draw at Real, with the Rapids letting slip a 2-0 lead.
Sporting KC got the better of the U-16s/17s, winning 2-1, but the U-15s dug deep to defeat SKC 1-0. It was a good weekend for the U-15s, who edged Real on Saturday 2-1, with a brace from Adan Perez.
Having scored 32 goals and conceded none in their opening four games, the U-14s were brought down to earth on Saturday, losing 2-1 at Real Colorado. Darren Yapi was on target for the Rapids. He now has eight goals in five games.
The U-13s made it four wins out of five to start the season, narrowly overcoming Real 1-0, with a goal early in the second half from Jonah Elstad.
This coming weekend the DA’s games are spread over two days. The U-18s/19s, U-16s/17s and U-15s face Colorado Rush on Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The U-14s, U-13s and both U-12 teams tackle Rush on Sunday.
