COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids have acquired Generation adidas forward Calvin Harris from FC Cincinnati in exchange for $100,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM), $100,000 in 2024 GAM and up to $175,000 in conditional payments if Harris reaches multiple performance metrics, the club announced today. Cincinnati also retains a percentage of any future transfer fee if Harris is sold or traded by the Rapids. Harris will occupy a Supplemental Slot on the Rapids’ roster.

“Calvin is a versatile and dynamic forward who has only begun to scratch the surface of his potential,” said Pádraig Smith, Colorado Rapids Executive VP & General Manager. “He’s a player we monitored closely ahead of the 2021 SuperDraft given his qualities and we’re excited to bring him into an environment where we believe he can develop and take the next step in his career.”

Harris, 22, arrives in Colorado after spending the past two seasons with Cincinnati. During his time with the Orange and Blue, Harris made 26 appearances across all competitions, scoring a pair of goals and registering one assist since being drafted by the club with the second overall pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. Harris also spent time in MLS NEXT Pro last year, scoring three goals in six appearances for FC Cincinnati 2.

Prior to his time in Ohio, Harris enjoyed a stellar collegiate career at Wake Forest University where he was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2019. The forward scored 10 goals and added five assists across 32 appearances during his two seasons with the Demon Deacons.
