For their second preseason matchup the Rapids will take on Querétaro FC in a closed-door contest on Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. MT.
Querétaro, or Los Gallos Blancos, compete in Liga MX, currently sitting at No. 12 in the top Mexican flight's standings through three matches played. They take on third-ranked Tigres a day before their contest with the Rapids.
The club was founded in 1950, boasting a rich history including Copa MX, Supercopa MX and Ascenso MX titles in the last 20 years, and a runner-up finish in the Liga MX Clausara tournament in 2015. Notable players from the club's history include Ronaldinho and Antonio Valencia.
Colorado and Querétaro share commonalities between players rostered, including:
- Rubio Rubín and Jasper Löffelsend
- Rubín and Löffelsend were teammates at RSL, playing together in 32 matches across all competitions during the 2022-23 season.
- Federico Létorta and Braian Gálvan
- Létorta and Gálvan were teammates at CA Colón in Argentina, playing together in two matches during the 2019-20 season. In their initial match as teammates, Gálvan scored his first goal of the season, securing the third goal in Colón's 3-2 victory over Club Estudiantes de La Plata.
Following the scrimmage with Querétaro, the Rapids will take on one more Mexican team, Atlante FC, before departing homeward to Colorado. The matchup with Atlante FC is slated for February 2 at 11 a.m. MT.
All scrimmages in Mexico will be closed-door contests, but fans of the Burgundy and Blue can keep up with all the action on the official Rapids' social media accounts and coloradorapids.com for postgame coverage.
