This past weekend was a busy one with both US Soccer Development Academy Teams travelling to Missouri, and the Rapids Academy U-16 boys participating in the Colorado State Cup Semi-final game at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. In addition Development Academy players James Rogers, Ricardo Perez and Oscar Montes stayed home from the Development Academy trip to play in the Reserve game vs. the Chicago Fire on Sunday.

COLORADO RAPIDS YOUTH ACADEMY FEATURE PLAYER:
Ricardo Perez – the 15 year old Perez started and played 90 minutes in the Colorado Rapids Reserve game vs. the Chicago Fire. The versatile Perez, who played on the left side of midfield on Sunday, is finishing his 3rd year with the Academy. In the last two weeks he has also made an appearance in the RSL reserve game.
COLORADO RAPIDS YOUTH ACADEMY FEATURE TEAM:
Coach David Proctor’s U16 CYS team advanced to the CYS State Cup Final by defeating Real Colorado 4:1 on Thursday. The defending Champions, this is the 3rd consecutive year the age group has played in the final. Nine current Development Academy players have come from this age group with several more waiting in the wings. The thing that stands out about this team is that the current roster features six players playing up an age group to enhance their individual development.
