- Sunday’s match will be the first time the Rapids cross paths with New York City FC since the two sides met on July 20, 2019. It will mark their sixth-ever encounter in MLS and third-ever at Yankee Stadium.
- The Rapids will be without their leading goalscorer, forward Diego Rubio, on Sunday as the Chilean will miss the trip to New York due to suspension from yellow card accumulation. Rubio leads Colorado with seven goals in 2022, tying him for fourth-most goals in MLS this season, while leading the league in game-winning goals (3).
- NYCFC selected Rapids striker Jonathan Lewis with the third overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Lewis logged 775 minutes, scored three goals and delivered five assists across 31 appearances with NYCFC from 2017-2018.
- GK William Yarbrough is one shutout away from surpassing Tim Howard for fourth-most clean sheets in Rapids history. His six shutouts so far this season are T-2nd in MLS. The two-time Liga MX champion is also one win away from tying Howard and Joe Cannon for fourth-most wins in Rapids history (29).
