A couple of years ago, when Dillon Serna was asked to pick out the toughest opponent in MLS, the name of Victor Bernardez came to mind, and it easy to see why. The San Jose Earthquakes defender is an imposing figure at six-foot-two and 211 pounds.
Serna, though, is fleet-of-foot, with the ability to dodge and weave his way around even the most intimidating of frames.
Should Serna start his sixth game in a row, expect him to relish the challenge of going up against the former Honduras international, as the Rapids go in search of their first road win of 2017.

Technically gifted, with a sweet left foot, Serna is seeking to re-establish himself in the Rapids line-up after his 2016 season was cut short by injury. The first of five starts in a row brought him his first goal. Capable of unpredictable moments of magic.
|
What they say … |

Bernardez is a physically imposing center back who has been a fixture in San Jose's backline since joining the club ahead of the 2012 season. In addition to his bruising style of defending, Bernardez produces a fierce shot from distance that he often utilizes on free kicks.
|
