By the numbers: here are 10 stats from the Colorado Rapids' 1-0 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Friday night.
1. Both Micheal Azira and Jared Watts made their 50th start in MLS. Azira is the only player to have featured in every minute of every game this season.
2.Alan Gordon made his first start at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for the Rapids, in what was his 250th career game in MLS.
3. Another player hitting the 250 mark on Friday was Whitecaps defender Jordan Harvey. It came nine years and a day after his MLS debut, which he made for the Rapids on May 4, 2008.
4. Designated Player Shkëlzen Gashi played the full 90 minutes versus Vancouver. It was the first time since October 23, 2016 that he had gone the distance in a regular season game.
5. Through eight games, the Rapids have now fielded eight different starting lineups.
6. With Mekeil Williams sent off against the Whitecaps, and therefore staring at a suspension, the Rapids will change their starting lineup once again for the visit of San Jose Earthquakes (TICKETS). It will also require a change to the back four for the fifth time in nine games.
7. Last Friday's starting XI for the Rapids was among the most experienced in recent times, with an average age of 29. The oldest starter was Tim Howard (38), and the youngest was Eric Miller (24). The average age of those named as substitutes was 23.
8. Of their 270 passes in the attacking half, the Rapids enjoyed 74 per cent accuracy. They had a 69 per cent accuracy in the final third (from 119 passes). This is compared to a 62 per cent accuracy for the Whitecaps in both categories.
9. The Rapids took a season-high 15 shots during Friday’s game. A third of those came from Gashi. Just one of those 15 shots, though, was on target.
10. Being shutout for a third successive game means it is now 331 minutes since the Rapids last scored a goal, which came from Kevin Doyle 29 minutes into the 2-1 home loss to Real Salt Lake on April 15.
